Once, while going through a magazine I read this quote made by one historian. These lines made my mind wheels to move in the direction of automobile industry, which really has given us speed and accessibility to reach anywhere in the world and to go beyond the word ‘limitations’. Historian gave acknowledgment to Mr. Ford, might be due to the revolution he brought into the field of transportation, broadly into the automobile industry. Henry Ford was an American man, who has made history in the world of Automobile. He was the founder of the ‘Ford Motor Company’ and referred as the father of modern assembly lines those have been used in mass production.
Today whole world is moving on the wheels as automobile industry has acquired a remarkable place in everyone’s life. The automobile gave mobility to our life to the degree that never been recognized before. It has made a great impact on human being as the motor vehicles have narrowed the gap and shortened the distance between so called rural and urban areas.
This changed many of ours life and catered more flexibility to it. Farmers can transport their productions easily and economically using various modes of transportation. This also made the journey or transportation of our younger one’s easy as regional or far away schools are now easily accessible by bus for them. Alike this many of the examples are available for us in our day-to-day life, which has a wide and good impact of automobile.
Automobile is the field useful for people in the urban as well as rural parts. As it is giving speed to the urban routine tasks or can say city life it gives pace to the farm duties too. Automobiles have drastically changed lives in cities by picking up the pace for the outward expansion of population into the suburbs. Through highway transportation automobile industry has given emphasize to suburban trends. This encourages business and industry to move to these outward sites. Impact of Automobiles gave birth to many of the new tasks and businesses that have allowed more employment to the world’s growing population.

Class of Truck Services Operation
Truck usage, purpose, or “vocation” is categorized by type of service operation as follows:
Class A service: operation of motor vehicles on smooth, hard-surfaced highways in level country, where transmission gears are used only to accelerate the vehicle and payload from rest. Fast axle gear ratios are used.
Class B service: operation of motor vehicles on smooth, hard-surfaced highways in hilly country where numerous grades are encountered. Requires intermittent use of transmission for short periods to surmount grades. The intermediate range of axle gear ratios is used in this class of service.
Class C Service: operation of motor vehicles for dump truck service, where the vehicle operates on loose dirt, sand, or muddy roads that offer high rolling resistance. This class of service also covers operation under conditions where the transmission is used for long periods in overcoming bad road conditions on long mountain grades. Vehicle design fir this class of service usually calls for the slow range of axle gear ratios.
Class D service: operation of motor vehicles in connection with semi-trailers or trailers. This type of service is confined to smooth, hard-surfaced highways. In this service, the gross vehicle weight is the gross train weight, that is, the total weight of truck, trailer, and load.
Truck weight classifications are used to differentiate truck sizes. To fully define the vehicle, engine type and truck mission or purpose need to be known.

Public transportation is the means of transportation to work for more than 5% of the work force. More than 87% of households have a motor vehicle. Nearly two-third has two or more vehicle.
In early 1990’s, more than 1.72 trillion passenger-miles were traveled by car and truck. Automobile and truck usage accounted for more than 80.8% of intercity passenger-miles, and, when bus usage is added, the figure increases to 82%. Intercity motor carries of freight handled 29% of the freight ton-miles; While 37% was carried by railroad. Pipeline and inland waterways, respectively, accounted for 19% and 15% of the freight shipments.
Sales statistic for 1990’s, reflect popularity of small and midsize cars, which accounted for the five top-selling makes. However, the most notable trend was seen in the continued rapid rises of truck and MPV sales. Total sales of the top 5 pickup trucks, SUV, MPV and Minivan surpassed total sales of the top 5 automobile.
Characteristic of vehicle purchased are further describe by their optional equipment and accessories: engine, four cylinder (46%), six cylinder (39%), eight-cylinder ( 14%). Additional percentages include: automatic transmission (88%), power steering (93%), antilock brake (56%), air conditioning (99%), FWD accounted nearly 90% of the vehicle total.
